Horror Genre Recommendations

This was a fun little chart I updated a few weeks ago and am just now putting it up on my website. Some of the titles listed have not been released yet, but the majority of them have been. The original post listed most of the classics/older films, so I decided to list more modern films (the majority of them were released post 2000). I know it's the last day of October and I clearly wanted to long but better late than never! Maybe you can find something on here you might want to watch tonight! Enjoy! (Click the image to enlarge)

  1. Cool graph! I will have to see which ones I might enjoy. And hey, what better day to post horror movies than Halloween, am I right? At first glance, Apollo 18 sounds interesting. Sci-fi horror is probably my favorite sub-genre in horror (Alien and The Thing are a classics). I am just not a fan of "torture porn" and demonic horror. But most other things with a strong sense of suspense are my type of horror.

    1. Thank you James, you're definitely correct too haha! I actually blanked sorta on the Sci-Fi horror which is funny so I threw in 'Apollo 18'. The funny thing being I was not a fan of the movie at all lol. Very little happens, it's a slow burn which is okay with me, but the climax/revelation wasn't worth it in my eyes. But you might feel differently! Yeah Torture porn certainly isn't everyone's cup of tea, especially today's trends of constantly pushing out those types of movies. I definitely agree that suspense is the key to any horror movie and you just don't see it often enough.

  2. Also, for some animated horror, I would recommend "Perfect Blue" for the serial killer type. And "Magnetic Rose" for a very Ridley Scott-esque tragic sci-fi suspense. It is one of the films in the "Memories" anthology collection. It is by one of the animators of Akira.

    1. Yeah I've read a bit about Perfect Blue from people who have recommended it, I really need to see that. Especially since some people have compared it to Black Swan which I was a huge fan of! Magnetic Rose sounds very interesting, haven't heard of that one! Loved Akira so I might have to get around to watching this one as well!
